Guarnieri Tops Century Mark in RBI’s, Runs

Paxton, Mass. – Anna Maria College baseball player Mike Guarnieri (Wallingford, CT) collected his 100th RBI and 100th run scored for his career over the weekend for the AMCATS.

On Saturday afternoon at Johnson and Wales the senior centerfielder scored, on a Justin Hyland RBI single through the right side in the fourth inning of an 8-2 loss, to top the century mark for runs scored in a career. Guarnieri joins an elite club becoming only the 4th AMCAT to reach the milestone,  former four-year man Jeff Scafidi is currently the all-time leader in the category with 127 plate crossings.

The four-year starter's landmark RBI came on Sunday afternoon at Mitchell College.  Guarnieri delivered a two-out RBI single to left center that plated teammates Joe McNeil and Pat Gilman and at the time pushed AMC into the lead 5-4.  Mike becomes only the third player in AMCAT history to produce 100 RBI's. Just ahead in the all-time standings sits current assistant coach James McNamara (109) and Scafidi holds the all-time record (143).

Guarnieri has had a storied career at Anna Maria, he currently sits in second all-time in hits (171), triples (9), total bases (225) and is in fourth in games played (138) and at-bats (483).
