Women’s Soccer - Cadets Tip AMCATS, 1-0

Paxton, Mass.  –  Senior Baylie Lamarre's (Tyngsboro, Mass.) 59th-minute goal pushed the Norwich University soccer team to a 1-0 win over Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at AMCAT field. The win lifts the Cadets to 1-11 (1-5 GNAC) while the AMCATS dip to 4-7-1 (0-6 GNAC).

The only goal of the game came in the second half when Lamarre won a chase to a loose ball down the left wing and launched a high shot into the top right corner of the net for her third goal of the season.

Both team sputtered in first half, the Cadets had eleven scoring opportunities but only four shots made it on AMCAT netminder Teresa Ryan (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who would finish with nine saves. Anna Maria had their best chance in the half when a shot from freshman Sarah Fogg (Gorham, Maine) was saved by the Cadets' Allison Hull (South Royalton, Vt.).

Fogg led Anna Maria with two shots on net, while Melissa Anderson (Oxford, Mass.) and Rebecca Mauricio (Tiverton, RI) each had one attempt.

Norwich held the advantage in shots (19-4), while also edging the AMCATS in corner kicks (5-0).

Anna Maria next plays on Saturday, October 12 when they head to Rivier for a 4:30pm game, while Norwich travels to Suffolk University on the same day for a 5:00pm match-up.
