Monks Blank AMCATS, 2-0

Paxton, Mass. – The visiting Monks of Saint Joseph's College defeated Anna Maria College 2-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action at AMCAT Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The Monks remain undefeated in GNAC play improving to 9-1 (4-0 GNAC) on the season while the AMCATS (4-5-1, 0-4 GNAC) are still in search of their first conference win.

The AMCATS were led by goaltender Teresa Ryan (Shrewsbury, MA), the sophomore keeper made 17 saves in the loss. Junior Cristina Turley (Waterford, CT) accounted for two of the four AMCAT shots on goal.   

Senior Jessica Capozzi (Saugus, MA) scored the first goal of the contest, netting a corner kick feed from sophomore Whitney White (Salem, NH) at 28:01 of the first half.  Two minutes later, sophomore Hannah Leblanc (Andover, MA) cashed in a feed from freshman Desiree Parent (Westborough, MA) to give the Monks a 2-0 advantage. 

The Monks held the edge in shots on goal 19-4 and corners 15-0.

The AMCATS return to action on Saturday when they host Mount Ida College for a 1:00PM GNAC match-up.
