Women's Volleyball Drops Two at Rivier University

Nashua, N.H. - The Anna Maria Women's Volleyball team traveled to Rivier University to take part in a tri-match with the Raiders of Rivier and the Monks of Saint Joseph's in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play.  Rivier swept the day going 2-0 while Saint Joseph's split 1-1 and Anna Maria dropped both contests, going 0-2. 

Game One: Saint Joseph's 3, Anna Maria College 0 

Sophomore Samantha Parker (Athol, MA) recorded 20 assists and freshman Michelle Connolly (Quincy, MA) notched a game high 14 digs, but it wasn't enough, as the Monks beat the AMCATS in three straight sets.  

The first match was tight, with neither team establishing a run.  The Monks were able to stay one step ahead however, outlasting the AMCATS 25-20.  

The Monks were able to establish early leads throughout the second and third sets and the AMCATS were unable to strike back.  Saint Joseph's took the second set 25-17 and the third set by a score of 25-14.

Sophomore Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, NH) had a game high 12 kills and freshman Mariah Hebert (Biddeford, ME) had a game high 27 assists leading Saint Joseph's to the 3-0 victory.  

Game Three: Rivier University 3, Anna Maria College 0

The Raiders coasted to a 3-0 victory in the final match of the GNAC Tri-Match at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Freshman Chelsea Hussey (Lebanon, CT) paced the offensive attack for Rivier as she had the team high with 8 kills. Classmates Dana Mott (Medway, MA) and Jessica Drolet (Tiverton, RI) also added 7 kills in the three set win.

O'Reilly contributed with 34 assists and Amaral had 18 digs as the Raiders took the sets by scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-12.

Anna Maria was led by sophomore Samantha Parker who had four assists and five digs as she helped control the game for the Amcats. Sophomore Jessica Goulet (Lawrence, MA) registered two kills in her return to Rivier while Michelle Connolly (Quincy, MA) recorded 14 digs.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 13-5 overall and a perfect 3-0 mark in the GNAC. Anna Maria sees their record stand at .500 with an 8-8 mark and they fall to 0-2 in the conference.

The Amcats will have a full week off before they travel to Boston, Mass for a GNAC tri-match with Emmanuel College at Suffolk.
