Seahawks Fly Past AMCATS, 66-30

West Palm Beach, Fla.—The Anna Maria College women's basketball team fell to the Seahawks of Keiser University 66-30 on Thursday evening. The loss drops the AMCATS to 2-6 overall while the Seahawks rise to 9-5 on the year. '

HOW IT HAPPENED

Keiser shot 32 percent from field goal range and 34.8 percent from behind the arc as they drained right three-pointers in the victory. The AMCATS went 12-for-47 for a 25.5 shooting percentage from field goal range. The visitors felt defensive pressure from behind the arc as they only notched two three-pointers of 23 attempts. The Seahawks outrebounded the AMCATS 57-29 and forced the AMCATS to turn the ball over 22 times.

Keiser never trailed in tonight's contest, having only been tied once and stretching its lead to as much as 36 to conclude the contest. Keiser finished the game shooting .909 from the free throw line while the AMCATS shot 80 percent. 

Shannon Hofmiller (Oxford, Conn.) led the AMCAT offense with 11 points on the night while Deja Taitt (Cambia Heights, N.Y.) chipped in with a team high five rebounds and five assists. Kristina Russo (South Windsor, Conn.) and Leah Wright (Summerville, S.C.) both added six points in the defeat.

Claudia Reque led the Seahawks with 11 points while her teammates Dominique Winbush and Kaylee Patton added 10 rebounds and five assists respectively.

 

WHAT'S NEXT?

Keiser will conclude the Keiser Classic tomorrow at 7 p.m. when the Seahawks take on No. 10 Shawnee State. The AMCATS will take on Valley City State at 5:00 p.m. for their last matchup of the Keiser Classic.
