Women's Basketball Suffers 87-56 Loss to Rams

PAXTON, Mass.— The Anna Maria College women's basketball team suffered a 87-non-conference loss to the Rams of Framingham State University on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the AMCATS to 2-5 overall this season while the Rams rise to 8-0 overall.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Framingham State shot 38.5 percent from the field while the AMCATS shot 30 percent. The Rams went 9-for-28 from behind the arc for a 32.1 three-point shooting percentage and the AMCATS went 4-for-27 for a 14.8 percentage.

Framingham outrebounded Anna Maria 53-36 and turned the ball over 24 times while the AMCATS lost possession 31 times. The Rams converted 31 points off of AMCAT turnovers.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The AMCATS were led by senior guard Christina Gauvin (Dudley, Mass.) who notched 11 points and nine rebounds on the day. Classmate Deja Taitt (Cambia Heights, N.Y.) contributed 10 points and two steals. Off the bench for the AMCATS, Sophomore Mary Tadsse (Portland, Maine) and freshman Leah Wright (Summerville, S.C.) added nine points apiece in the effort.

Five players finished with double digit scoring for Framingham State, led by freshman Mary Kate O'Day (Berlin, Mass.) who came off the bench with a game high 17 points. Junior Raegan Mulherin followed that lead with 14 points on the day. Lauren Donahue (Attleboro, Mass.), Quinn O'Connell (Sterling, Mass.) and Julia Sanborn Dracut, Mass.) all checked in with 10 points.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The AMCATS travel to West Palm Beach, Fla. for two games on Dec. 29th and Dec. 30th. They return to Paxton, Mass. for a home conference game with Lasell on January 7th starting at 1:00 p.m. The undefeated Rams host MIT on Tuesday, Dec. 13th for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off.
