SENIOR DAY:
- Prior to the game, the AMCATS recognized their graduating senior class as part of senior day. The duo of midfielder Nick Lawrence (North Attleboro, MA) and forward Adolfo Leon-Alvarado (West Palm Beach, FL) were honored by coaches, teammates, family members and fans for their time with the men's soccer program. Both of these student-athletes have each made outstanding contributions not only on the soccer field but to the entire Anna Maria campus community as a whole. Although their time with the program may be ending they will forever be a part of the AMCAT family.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Anna Maria got on the board first in the ninth minute when freshman midfielder Iweka Iweka (Westborough, MA) found fellow rookie freshman midfielder Rubelsi Moran (Holden, MA) on a short pass in front of the net and Moran finished for his team-leading ninth goal of the season.
- In the 25th minute, it would be Lawrence, playing in the final home game of his career, scoring off a put-back with the assist going to junior forward Hezekiah Adeyeye (Woonsocket, RI). It was Lawrence's eighth goal of the season as the AMCATS went ahead 2-0.
- Two late first half goals were disallowed due to offside calls against the Anna Maria, and the two-goal lead would hold up going into halftime.
- In the 69th minute, the Lasers would answer as junior midfielder Matt Nogueira (Ludlow, MA) took a free kick and shot a laser that hooked into the upper-right corner of the net.
- Despite some of the most intense play Carposo Field had seen in years down the stretch, 2-1 would hold up for the final score.
- Lasell senior goalkeeper Zack LaWare (Wilbraham, MA) finished with seven saves.
- Anna Maria freshman goalkeeper David Flores (San Antonio, TX) flirted with a shutout, concluding his night with four saves in the victory.
- It was the AMCATS' first win over the Lasers since September 10, 2016, a 3-2 victory for Anna Maria.
