Bulldogs Snap Men's LAX Win Streak

Franklin, MA: The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team snapped their four-game win streak when they fell 14-8 to Dean College on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Grant Field.

TURNING POINT:

  • The Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-1 lead early in the first quarter, scoring three unanswered goals in three minutes at one point. Senior midfielder Eric Glover (Baldwinville, MA) cut the lead to three with a goal with just over five minutes left in the quarter with an assist from freshman midfielder Brennan Fields (Chicopee, MA).
  • The second quarter saw both teams buckle down on the defensive end. The Bulldogs were able to stretch their lead to 7-2 behind two more goals within a bit over a minute early in the quarter. The AMCATS cut the lead to 7-3 at the half when AMCATS again closed out the scoring in the period, this time it was sophomore attacker Ethan Quinn (Dudley, MA) scoring with an assist from junior midfielder Tommy Girard (Newbury, MA).
  • After an even third period that saw both teams score four goals, the Bulldogs pulled away in the final period. Following a goal from freshman midfielder Zachary Boyd (Bay Shore, NY), the Bulldogs scored four goals before senior attacker Nick Massaro scored to set the final score at 14-8 with just over four minutes remaining.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Senior goalkeeper Griffin Moore (Worcester, MA) had 11 saves giving him double-digit saves in seven of his eight appearances.
  • Senior attacker Quinn Hannagan (South Windsor, CT) scored two goals, bringing his season total to 12 points, good for third on the team.
  • Sophomore attacker Ethan Quinn (Dudley, MA), and Freshman attacker Nicolas Pasqualini (Mystic CT) joined Boyd, Quinn, and Massaro in adding a tally of their own.
  • Eight AMCATS recorded at least two shots each but lost the total shot battle 36-35. Hannagan and Bulldogs attacker Diego Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, MA) tied for the lead with nine shots each, seven of which were on goal for both players.
  • Alvarez-Segee led all players with four goals for the Bulldogs.

UP NEXT:

The AMCATS will return to the field on Wednesday, April 6th when they will return to Caparso Field to faceoff with Rivier University for a 6:00 pm start.
