Glittens' Four Goals Lead Men's Lax To First Win

New Haven, CT: The Anna Maria College men's lacrosse team opened conference play today when they rolled over Albertus Magnus in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Celentano Field by a score of 15-4.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • After trading goals in the three minutes of play, the AMCATS took control of the game early with a six goal first period. Following the Falcon's game tying goal, the AMCATS scored 13 unanswered goals eventually working all the way to a 14-1 lead after three periods.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Freshman midfielder Hank Gittines (Shrewsbury, NJ) earned the first haul of his collegiate career with four goals on a team high eight shots. He also recorded two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Senior midfielder Eric Glover (Baldwinville, MA) came through with his second hat trick of the season while assisting on senior attacker Nick Massaro's (West Haven, CT) goal that started the 13-0 scoring run. Glover also had seven ground balls and two turnovers caused.
  • Glover was part of a quartet of four-point scorers for the AMCATS. Massaro (two goals and two assists), Junior midfielder Tommy Girard (Newbury, MA) (two goals and two assists), and freshman midfielder Zachary Boyd (one goal and three assists)
  • Freshman midfielder Nathan Powers (Putney, VT) and Glover tied for the team lead with seven ground balls each as the AMCATS won the ground ball battle 55-25. The AMCATS also enjoyed a 13-8 edge in face-off wins all taken by Powers.
  • Senior goalkeeper Griffin Moore (Worcester, MA) earned his first win of the season, making eight saves on nine shots

The AMCATS will return to the field on Wednesday, March 23rd when they will host St. Joseph College for a 4pm start.
