Men's Basketball Lased by Lasell

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Men's Basketball Team dropped their final game of the season to conference opponent Lasell College 89-75, in the Fuller Center.

 

The Lasers improve their record to 7-18 on the season, and 5-6 in GNAC play.

The AMCATS fall to 7-18 on the season, going 3-8 in the GNAC.

 

The Contest started as a very close battle between the two teams, with Lasell maintaining a slight lead throughout the first half. There was only two ties and two lead changes in the first half. For the Lasers Stefan Masciarelli lead all scorers going into the locker room with 20 points just at the half. Liam Jacobs and Kevin Nunez also contributed 10 points each.

 

Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass) and Bobby Perette (Marshfield, Mass.) helped the AMCATS stay within striking distance of the lead going into the half. Rapoza put up 10 points and seven rebounds, while Perette had 8 points and a rebound. Senior Sidney Limage (Randolph, Mass.) also helped clean up the boards as he pulled down 5 rebounds.

 

The Second half Lasell ran away from Anna Maria gaining their largest lead of the day, with Masciarelli continuing to pour in the baskets. He finished with another 18 points in the second half, totaling a game high 38 points.

 

Anna Maria showed some life with a quick rally to shorten the gap when they switched to an aggressive 1-3-1 zone causeing multiple turnovers and forced shots. Rapoza went off for 19 points in the half to help the AMCATS getting a little bit closer. Rapoza tallied another Double-Double with his 29 points and 13 rebounds. The 'CATs rally came up short in the end with the Lasers taking it 89-75.

With this contest the AMCATS will conclude their season, while Lasell looks to the GNAC playoffs.
