Lady AMCATS Win on 30th Anniversary of the Program

PAXTON, MA – Today's Field Hockey match against the Regis Pride focused on honoring the past, celebrating the present, and looking towards the bright future. Today marked the final home game for senior midfielder Brooke Denver (New Britain, CT) and senior forward Marybeth McClune (Worcester, MA), who were both venerated in a speech by Head Coach Sharon Zenevitch. Coach Zenevitch was also the recipient of a commemorative plaque for picking up her 200th career victory as a head coach at Anna Maria on October 9th in a match against Becker College. The half time buzzer signified the start of a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Anna Maria Field Hockey program, during which players from past years were brought out to the field and given a warm welcome back.

The Lady AMCATS rallied together to grant the graduating seniors a great memory of their last home stand, and to increase Coach Zenevitch's total wins. They pulled out a 2-1 victory in a NECC matchup versus the Pride of Regis College.

With this win, the Anna Maria Field Hockey team improves to 10-7 on the year, and still remains undefeated in the NECC with a record of 4-0. Their undefeated record is enough to get the Lady AMCATS a spot in the Conference Playoffs. The Pride drop to 3-12 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

The Pride struck first in this one. Junior midfielder Stacy Burns (Waltham, MA) delivered a pass to Christine O'Toole (Boston, MA), a junior forward, who then found the back of the net.

In the 28th minute of the first half, sophomore forward Nicole Lowe (Saugus, MA) tied up the score at one a piece, capitalizing on a beautiful pass from freshman midfielder Kylie Dalbec (Portland, ME).

Lowe and Dalbec would connect again for the go ahead goal in the 4th minute of the second half, this time with Dalbec on the scoring end of a pass from Lowe. The AMCATS defense strove to make sure that this goal was all that the Lady AMCATS needed to beat the Pride.

The Anna Maria College Field Hockey team seeks to notch another victory when head out to Boston, MA to take on the Wildcats of Wheelock College at 8:30 PM.
