Vikings Stop AMC 6-0

Salem, MA -- Salem State scored three times in the first half and cruised to an 6-0 victory over the Anna Maria College AMCATS at Alumni Field on Thursday afternoon.

Salem State raised its record to 7-9 while Anna Maria slips to 6-11.

Playing in a driving rain Eryn Shea (Spencer, MA) scored twice in the first thirty-five minutes and Kristin Santanello (Swampscott, MA) added another goal as Salem State raced out to a 3-0 halftime lead.

Shea's first goal came on an assist from Lauren Pazdziorny (Middleton, MA) at 5:09 of the first period. Santanello added another point at 15:42 before Shea added her team-leading 10th score of the season off a rebound just before the half. Stephanie Morrison (Beverly, MA) was credited with an assist.

Courtney Lynch (North Andover, MA) increased the Vikings lead to 5-0 when she scored at 46:36 and again at 56:07 of the second half.

The Vikings controlled play for most of the game, outshooting the AMCATS 23-10.

Lynda Santosuosso (Melrose, MA) closed the scoring with a goal from Nicole Bisbee (Templeton, MA) in the 68th minute to make the final 6-0.

Michaela Boyer (South Hadley, MA) notched her third shutout and seventh win of the season in goal as she stopped five shots. Marita Steinmatz (Grafton, MA) made 10 saves in the loss.

Anna Maria will host Elms College at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 29th, while Salem State plays their final match against Westfield State at Alumni Field beginning at 12:00 PM.
