Hawks Soar to 25-4 Win over Baseball

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.—The Becker College baseball team exploded for 25 hits and 24 runs to claim a 24-5 win over the AMCATS of Anna Maria College on Wednesday afternoon at the New England Baseball Complex.

The win boosts Becker to 13-11 on the season, while Anna Maria falls to 4-19.

AMCAT LEADERS

All five Anna Maria runs were driven in by senior third baseman Matthew Leahey (Rutland, Mass.). In the third inning, he drilled a two-run home run to plate Anna Maria's first runs of the game. In the fifth, he cranked a two-RBI double that bounced off the yellow top of the fence, inches short of another home run.

He drove in a final run in the bottom of the seventh on a single up the middle that scored James Marcello (), who led off the inning with a single to third base, stole second, and advanced to third on a groundout by Tanner Jakola (Leominster, Mass.).

Anna Maria finished with 11 hits. Leahey finished 3-for-4, while Marcello had a day with a 4-for-5 performance from the leadoff spot.

BECKER LEADERS

Leadoff batter Josiah Shepherd (Providence, R.I.) hit 5-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. He was one of seven players to finish with two or more hits. Evan Barrera (West Warwick, R.I.) tallied four hits, followed by Vaibhav Desai (Waltham, Mass.) with three.

TJ Seempkowski (Oceanport, N.J.), Nick Harriman (Harrisville, R.I.), Randall Minogue (North Kingston, R.I.), and Trevor Read (Colorado Springs, Colo.) all finished with two hits apiece.

Minogue drove in a team-leading eight runs on strength of two homeruns, including a grand slam.

Becker scored six runs in the top of the first inning and did not look back, scoring runs in every inning except the fifth and eighth innings. They had their highest output in the sixth, when they plated eight runs.
