Russo Named to All-Tournament Team; AMCATS lose to Hunter

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The AMCATS wrapped up their 2017 schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 67-32 loss to Hunter College in the consolation game of the Coastal Classic hosted by Bowdoin College.

Anna Maria was led by senior guard Kristina Russo (South Windsor, Conn) who scored 14 points and grabbed six boards. She was also named to the Coastal Classic All-Tournament Team following the completion of the game. Senior guard Johanna Burke (Oxford, Mass) scored five for the 'Cats while pulling down four rebounds.

Hunter College's junior guard Jade Aponte (Baldwin, N.Y.) led all scorers with 15 points on the afternoon. Hawks sophomore guard Janine Conway (Amityville, N.Y.) came off the bench and scored 12 in the win.

Hunter was in control of this game from the first whistle as they outscored the AMCATS 40-16 in the first half. It was more of the same in the second half as AMC was held to just 16 points in the final twenty minutes falling to the Hawks 67-32.

The AMCATS will be back in action at home on January 4^th at 5pm taking on Fitchburg State.
