Women's Basketball Scratches Past Wildcats

PAXTON, MA. – On Saturday, January 13th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team hosted the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Matchup. The AMCATS won the game 71-59.

The Wildcats took the lead early in the game as they led 14-12 over the AMCATS at the end of the first quarter. However the AMCATS picked things up in the second quarter as they outscored the Wildcats 16-10 for a score of 28-24 in favor of the AMCATS as they entered halftime. 

The AMCATS maintained control of the game throughout the third quarter as they increased their lead over the Wildcats to 50-38. The fourth quarter would be a tight race as the AMCATS only outscored the Wildcats 22-21 however the effort from Johnson and Wales wouldn't be enough for a comeback as the AMCATS led 71-59 as the clock hit zero.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Marinique Reddin led the AMCATS with a double double, scoring 25 points and posting 18 rebounds.
  • Arianna Saldini and Sharayha Scott-Cummins combined for 14 points each.
  • Reddin currently sits 25 points away from hitting 1000 career points.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Monday, January 14th where they will host the University of Maine-Presque Isle Owls at the Fuller Center in Paxton, MA. Opening tip off is set for 12:00pm.
