Women's Basketball Gets Their First Win Of The Season Against Wentworth

PAXTON, MA. - On Monday, Novemeber 27th the Anna Maria College women's basketball team hosted the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards in the Fuller Center for a non-conference matchup. the AMCATS won the game 66-45.

In the first quarter, Anna Maria took an early lead, scoring 17 points compared to Wentworth's 13. The second quarter saw Anna Maria extending their lead, scoring 18 points while holding Wentworth to 10 points. At halftime, Anna Maria had a comfortable lead of 35-23.

During the third quarter, Anna Maria continued to dominate, scoring 12 points while Wentworth managed to score 16. Despite getting out scored in the third quarter, Anna Maria's lead was still substantial heading into the final quarter with a score of 47-39. In the fourth quarter, Anna Maria put the game out of reach for Wentworth, scoring 19 points while limiting Wentworth to just 6 points. The game ended with a final score of 66-45 in favor of the AMCATS.

For Anna Maria, Gina Parmenter was the leading scorer with 25 points. Marinique Reddin also had a strong performance, scoring 19 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Arianna Gonzalez contributed with 6 points and 5 rebounds.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Gina Parmenter went 7-11 outside the arc while also going 9-15 inside the paint.
  • Marinique Reddin led things on defense with 7 rebounds. Reddin also totaled 19 points in the AMCATS win.
  • Arianna Gonzalez led the AMCATS with 6 assists during the matchup.
  • The last time Parmenter put up 25 points was against Albertus Magnus last season. She made 7 three pointers in that game as well.
