Career Night For Odegaard in Loss to Framingham

FRAMINGHAM, Mass – AMC faced off against a tough MASCAC opponent on Thursday night, travelling to Framingham State to take on the Rams. While it was the best scoring night of the season for the AMCAT women they dropped the non-conference contest to 93-65.

For the AMCATS, it was a career night for senior guard Kayla Odegaard (Milton, Mass) as she scored a career and game high 27 points in her second start of the season. She shot 10-of-19 from the field and knocked down seven of her 13 three-point attempts. Odegaard added eight rebounds to her score line in 36 minutes on the floor. Senior guard Kristina Russo (South Windsor, Mass) extended her run of double digit scoring nights to four as she scored 14 on the evening. While Odegaard and Russo scored the majority of the points the scoring was spread out well amongst the AMCATS with graduate senior guard Johanna Burke (Oxford, Mass) scoring eight points in 27 minutes off the bench.

On the other end of the floor it was the Framingham bench coming up big for the Rams with three players scoring double digit points. Freshman forward Bryanna Santos (Brockton, Mass) and freshman guard Abbey Battaini (Haverhill, Mass) led all Framingham scorers with 13 points each. Freshman guard Camille Desrochers (Westford, Mass) scored 12 for the home team off the bench as well. The only starter to reach double digits for FSU was senior guard Raegan Milherin (Baldwinville, Mass) who had 10 on the evening.

The AMCATS kept things close in the first in quarter trailing by only five half way through, but the Rams closed the quarter on a 15-0 run. They followed that up with a 20-8 run to start the second quarter and pull away from AMC. The 'Cats were outscored 64-22 in the first half of play. The second half was a different story however as Odegaard, Russo and company were able to close the gap outscoring their opponent 22-12 in the third quarter. While they were able put up a similar result in the 4^th, 21-17, it ultimately was not enough to erase the 42-point first half lead. Framingham state were able to connect 10 times in 13 attempts from beyond the three-point line on the evening and that would ultimately be the difference for the home team. The Rams improved to 4-3, the AMCATS drop to 1-6 after the 93-65 final.

Next up for AMC will be a GNAC matchup against Regis College on Monday evening at 5pm on the road.
