Women's Basketball to Play4Kay on Saturday

PAXTON, Mass. - Saturday's women's basketball game against Albertus Magnus College will be dedicated to the memory of Kay Yow, the former head coach at North Carolina State University who passed away in 2009 after her third bout of breast cancer.

Since her passing, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the V Foundation, have commited to fighting fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.

The Anna Maria women's basketball team encourages fans to wear pink to the game on Saturday in order to show support against the disease. The team will also be collecting donations, with 100 percent of the funds raised being donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

To date, the Fund has raised over $3.9 million in support of women's cancer research. Teams throughout the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and around the country will Play4Kay in the month of February.
