Warburton Named GNAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

COMPLETE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass.—Senior Trafficia Warburton (Worcester, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College women's basketball team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.

It marks the first time this season that a member of the AMCAT squad has earned a weekly honor. Warburton is the defending GNAC Defensive Player of the Year.

Warburton had three-straight double-doubles to lead the AMCATS to a 3-0 week. She started off the week by posting 23 points and 16 rebounds in Anna Maria's 70-45 win against Salem State. Two days later against Becker, she recorded an atypical double-double of points and steals, tallying 24 and 12 in the respective categories.

She had her best scoring performance in Saturday's 75-61 win against Elms, where she netted 26 points and added 11 rebounds for the double-double. On the week, she averaged 24.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 8.7 steals per game while shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Warburton has posted a double-double in all four AMCAT games of 2014-15. She is averaging a team-best 23.2 points per game and is shooting 48.6 percent from field goal range over the team's first four games.

Anna Maria (3-1) returns to action on Tuesday, November 25th, when it travels to neighboring Clark University for a 4:00 p.m. non-conference matinée.
