KEENE, N.H.—Freshman Kristina Russo (South Windsor, Conn.) scored a team-best 10 points for the Anna Maria College women's basketball team in the opening game of the Keene State Holiday Tournament. The AMCATS fell to the hosts 68-43 and will play in the consolation game tomorrow at noon.
The win bumps Keene State to 6-3 on the season, while the AMCATS fall to 3-7.
In addition to Russo, the AMCATS received nine points and 10 rebounds from senior Trafficia Warburton (Worcester, Mass.) and seven points from Deja Taitt (Jamaica, N.Y.).
Keene State had three players score in double-figures, led by Christan Wojtas' game-high 26 points. Kelsey Cognetta chipped in with 14, while Courtney Roberts netted 10 points off the bench.
Stephanie D'Annolfo dished out six assists for the Owls and added a team-best eight rebounds.
The Owls held advantages in four scoring categories: points off turnovers (15-6), second-chance points (17-5), points in the paint (26-16), and bench points (17-11).
The AMCATS will take on the loser of the William Paterson/Regis game in the tournament's consolation game at noon on December 31st. The Owls will host the winner at 2:00 p.m. in the tournament's championship game.
