Warburton Named GNAC Player of the Week

COMPLETE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass.— Senior Trafficia Warburton (Worcester, Mass.) of the Anna Maria College women's basketball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

It marks the second time this season that Warburton has been deemed the league's top player. She also earned the honor in the second week of the season.

Warburton tallied a game-high 20 points on a 53.8 percent effort from the floor to lead Anna Maria to a 61-59 win against Norwich in the AMCATS' lone outing of the week. She hit seven-of-13 field goal attempts with a three-pointer and added five foul shots in 32 minutes of action. Her most important basket of the day was the deciding one, scored as time expired in the second half.

In addition to her efforts on offense, Warburton added 11 rebounds, posting her league-leading eighth double-double, and tallied five steals.

Warburton is a workhorse for the AMCATS this season as she leads the team in points per game (16.8), rebounds per game (11.0), and steals per game (5.1). She is also the NCAA Division III leader in steals per game.

The AMCATS (5-8, 1-0 GNAC) return to action tonight in a non-conference tilt against Pine Manor College at the Fuller Activities Center. The team will resume GNAC play on Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. game at St. Joseph's College of Maine.
