Wildcats Notch Two Victories Over AMCATS

Providence, R.I.-- The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University swept the AMCATS of Anna Maria College in a pair of games on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats took a 13-7 win in game one and an 8-4 win in game two. The Wildcats improve their record to 7-5 while the AMCATS fall to 7-16 overall.

GAME ONE 

The first game of the day remained scoreless through the first inning. Ivan Reyes got things started for the Wildcats in the bottom of the second inning reaching on a single to right field. The Wildcats scored 5 runs in both the bottom of the third and fourth innings while holding the AMCATS to no runs.

The AMCATS got on the board in the top of the fifth inning as Matthew Elliot (Attleboro, Mass.) scored off a visiting team error. Jonathan Roy (Worcester, Mass.) singled up the middle earning an RBI as he brought in Joseph Fahey (Auburn, Mass.). Dylan Carissimo (Tampa, Fl.) singled up the middle as well and notched 2 RBI's as Tanner Jakola (Leominster, Mass.) and Roy came in.  

The AMCATS earned their last two runs of game one in the top of the sixth inning. Phillip Antonucci (Revere, Mass.) scored off of Matthew Leahey's (Rutland, Mass.) grounder to second base and Darren Belliveau (Baldwinville, Mass.) crossed home off of Roy's single to third base. The Wildcats notched on more run in the bottom of the sixth when Vin Amalfitano grounded out to third base scoring Will Fritz to gain the ultimate 13-7 victory in game one. 

Carissimo led the AMCATS going two-for-four at the plate with two RBIs. Jakola pitched three innings scattering six hits and six runs (five earned).

GAME TWO

The Wildcats started off strong collecting two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead. The AMCATS answered back in the top of the second scoring as scored Jakola off of Fahey's single and Jacob Zamora (Alachua, Fla.) stole home adding another run (2-2).

JWU added an additional three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Anna Maria came back to life in the top of the sixth with two more runs as Elliot and Roy crossed home plate. This would end scoring for both teams.

Jakola led the AMCATS at the plate going one-for-two with one RBI. Camden Brown (Gardner, Mass.) went one-for-two at the plate as well. Leahey pitched a complete game for the AMCATS scattering nine hits and eight runs (four earned). He struck out four batters.
