Baseball Can't Hold On Against Scots

NORTHBOROUGH, MA - On Wednesday, March 13th the Anna Maria College baseball team hosted the Gordon College Fighting Scots at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, MA for a non-conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 8-6.

The Scots were the first on the board with a run in the top of the first off a Sac Fly to send Jonathan McIntyre home. McIntyre would later Sac Fly to help James Coats earn a run in the top of the second inning. Trailing 2-0, the AMCATS answered back in the bottom of the second after Jarrod Marifiote grounded out allowing Josh Batchelder to score the AMCATS first run of the game.

After cutting the Scots lead down to just one run, the AMCATS were met in the top of the third with a home run from Andrew Hartman to make it a 3-1 game. Undeterred, the AMCATS answered right back with a two run homer from Kosta Drosidis to tie the game up at three a piece. Despite the timely response from the AMCATS, the Scots would go on to score a two run homer of their own in the top of the fifth to regain the lead over the AMCATS. The Scots would score another run in to the top of the fifth to increase their lead to 6-3 over the AMCATS.

It wasn't until the bottom of the sixth that the AMCATS were able to answer back yet again as a single from Brady Aylward help Jarrod Marifiote make his way home to cut the Scots lead down to two. David Doherty would hammer out a double to help sent Brady Aylward and Blake Fuller home to tie the game back up at six runs a piece.

Unfortunately those would be the last runs the AMCATS would score as the Scots managed to tack on two more runs to end the game with a score of 8-6. Tyler Sprince would take the win on the mound for the Scots with Conor Francesconi being marked with the loss for the AMCATS.
