Dean Puts Women’s Lacrosse In The Doghouse

PAXTON, MA. – On Wednesday, April 5th the Anna Maria College women's lacrosse team (1-10; 0-8) hosted the Dean College Bulldogs (6-5; 5-3) at the Caparaso Field in Paxton, MA for a GNAC Conference Matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 18-7.

The Bulldogs set the tone early against the AMCATS putting up seven unanswered goals to start the game. It wasn't until two minutes left in the first quarter that Olivia Stump broke the silence, putting away the AMCATS first goal of the night.

Dean struck first in the second quarter but the AMCATS were quick to respond with a goal from Alice Yokabaskas tucking in the AMCATS second goal of the night. Riley Michaud was quick to follow with a free position goal to help the AMCATS scratch back. An unassisted goal from Reagan Hachey gave the AMCATS four goals with over six minutes left in the second quarter. Riley cote closed out the scoring for the AMCATS in the first half off a feed from Michaud. The AMCATS closed out the half trailing behind the Bulldogs 11-5.

The AMCATS were held scoreless until late in the third quarter. Hachey put away her second goal of the night with forty seconds left in the third. The AMCATS would only score one more goal for the remainder of the game where Yokabaskas fed Cote for the AMCATS seventh goal of the night. The AMCATS closed the game out behind the Bulldogs 18-7.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The AMCATS are 2-2 in their last four meetings with the Bulldogs.
  • Ashley Sheehan made her 248th career save against the Bulldogs.

Anna Maria women's lacrosse is back in action on Saturday, April, 8th where they will travel to Northfield, VT to take on the Cadets of Norwich University. Opening draw is at 11:00AM.
