Corsairs Sail Away From Women’s Lacrosse 17-7

DARTMOUTH, MA. – The Anna Maria women's lacrosse team traveled to Dartmouth, MA on Wednesday, March 1st to match up against the Corsairs of UMass-Dartmouth. The AMCATS lost the game 17-7.

After falling behind by two goals early in the first quarter, the AMCATS found themselves on the board with an unassisted goal from Riley Michaud (Clinton, MA) just over seven minutes into the quarter. The Corsairs put away three more goals before Riley Cote (Tewksbury, MA) buried the AMCATS second goal of the night. Closing out the first quarter the AMCATS trailed behind the Corsairs 6-2.

After being held scoreless in the second quarter, the AMCATS battled back in the third putting up four goals over the Corsairs three. A goal from Michaud (assisted by Cote) kicked off the action in the third quarter followed by back to back goals from Carly Drew (Rochester, MA). Alice Yokabaskas (Boothbay Harbor, ME) tucked away the AMCATS fourth goal in the third quarter.

Despite the AMCATS flurry of goals throughout the third quarter, Anna Maria still trailed behind the Corsairs 15-6 going into the fourth quarter. An early goal from Cote started things off in the final quarter however that would be the AMCATS final goal of the night. The Corsairs put away two more goals to lock the score at 17-7 at the end of the quarter.

Riley Michaud, Riley Cote and Carly Drew led the charge for the AMCATS with two goals a piece.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • This was the AMCATS first meeting with the Corsairs following the programs re-emergence in 2019.
  • Riley Cote leads the AMCATS with five points in two games played this season.

 

WHAT'S NEXT

The Anna Maria women's lacrosse team will be back in action on March 11th where they will host UMaine-Farmington at the Caparso Field in Paxton, MA. Opening draw is at 2:00PM.
