Monks Too Much For Women’s Lacrosse

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria Women's lacrosse team (1-4; 0-2) hosted the Monks of St. Joseph's (ME) (4-2; 2-0) at the Caparso Field in Paxton, MA. The AMCATS lost the game 19-4.

After being held scoreless in the first quarter, the AMCATS trailed behind the Monks 9-0. In desperate need of a goal, it wasn't until late in the second quarter that Riley Cote put away the AMCATS first goal of the day. Despite the late goal, the AMCATS still trailed behind the Monks 12-1 going into the second half.

Two early goals from the Monks would start things off in the second half. The AMCATS responded with a goal from Olivia Stump fed by Kyana Altif. Stump would keep the ball rolling setting up Makayla Gleba for the AMCATS third goal of the night. Still trailing behind the Monks 15-3 at the end of the third quarter.

The Monks kept the AMCATS at bay throughout the final quarter, Alice Yokabaskas put away the AMCATS final goal of the game off a free position shot with just over a minute left to play. The AMCATS would close the game out behind the Monks 19-4.

  • The AMCATS are 0-3 in their last three meetings with the Monks.

Anna Maria women's lacrosse is back in action on Wednesday, March 22nd where they will travel to Providence, RI to take on the Wildcats of Johnson and Wales University. Opening draw is at 4:00PM.
