Women’s Lacrosse Drops Home Opener To Gordon College 10-4

PAXTON, MA. – The Anna Maria Women's lacrosse team hosted the Fighting Scots of Gordon College at the Caparso Field in Paxton, MA for their home opener. The AMCATS lost the game 10-4.

After four early goals from the Scots the AMCATS found the back of net with a goal from Riley Michaud (Clinton, MA). She was assisted by Riley Cote (Tewksbury, MA)

Closing out the first fifteen minutes of play trailing 4-1, the AMCATS held the Scots at one goal throughout the second quarter. A late goal from Cote assisted by Michaud closed out the first half with the AMCATS trailing behind the Scots 5-2.

Gordon Capitalized on three free position shots to increase their lead over the AMCATS in the third quarter. Makayla Gleba (Rockland, ME) buried a free position shot for Anna Marias third goal of the night. 

Trailing behind Gordon 8-3 going into the final quarter, Raegan Hachey (Winthrop, ME) scored a late goal for the AMCATS however it was not enough to close in on the Scots. The AMCATS finished out the game trailing behind Gordon 10-4.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Four different AMCATS found the back of the net in the season opener.
  • Ashley Sheehan made 17 saves in the effort against the Scots
  • The AMCATS are 0-2 against the Scots in the last two seasons.

WHAT'S NEXT

Anna Maria women's lacrosse is back in action on Wednesday, March 1st where they will head to Dartmouth, MA to face off against the Corsairs of UMass-Dartmouth. Opening face off is at 5:00PM.
