AMCATS Clip Eagles in GNAC Action

Nashua – The Anna Maria men's lacrosse team built a 6-3 lead at the half and held on down the stretch to post a 12-8 victory over host Daniel Webster in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday at Eagle Field.

Scott Henry (Coventry, R.I.) racked up six goals and Rod Henriques (Saugus, Mass.) added four as the AMCATS improved to 4-6 overall (2-3 GNAC).

Lucas Stralka contributed four points (2goals, 2 assists) and Chris Summers (Long Valley, N.J.) added three assists, tying the AMCAT all-time program record for points with his 116th, matching Mike Saulnier '12.

Anthony Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) registered four goals for the Eagles (1-5, 0-4 GNAC) while Sean Hamilton (Brookline, N.H.) added a pair of goals and two assists. Bobby Loranger (Billerica, Mass.) added a goal and assist. Jay McGrath (Chelmsford, Mass.) scored one and Dan Merkel (Bethlehem, Pa.) had two assists. Dan Knupfer (Corfu, N.Y.) pulled in a team high five ground balls.

Joshua Giarratano (Warwick, R.I.) made seven saves in goal for Anna Maria while Tommy Driscoll (South Boston, Mass.) stopped 19 shots for the Eagles.

AMC led 3-2 after one, 6-3 after two and 9-6 after three.

The Eagles return to action on Thursday when they visit Mount Ida for a GNAC matchup at 3:30 p.m.

Anna Maria hosts Mount St. Vincent on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
