Bio

David McCauley has been the head coach of the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey program since the inaugural season in 2018-2019. In addition to his coaching duties, McCauley was named Associate Athletics Director for Recruiting and Rention in the fall of 2023.

In 2021-2022, in the AMCATS' first full season back from lockdown protocols, the team went 9-11-2, qualifying as the second seed in the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Commissioner's Cup. The men's ice hockey program claimed the Team Academic Award at that year's Anna Maria College Athletics Awards Ceremony for the highest grade-point average. Team captain Patrick Manning (Messena, NY) was recognized with an Anna Maria Male Senior Class award. 

In 2019-2020, the team went 12-8-5, representing a massive improvement for a second-year program. 

During Anna Maria's inaugural men's hockey season the team went 4-16-4.

The AMCATS under McCauley's leadership had seven AHCA All American Scholars and a NEHD II/III All-Star in Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC). 

A native of South Weymouth, Massachusetts, McCauley played four seasons for Salem State College from 1987-1991. During that four year period, he recorded 136 points in 97 games, on two occasions scoring 45+ points in a season.

Over the past twenty-plus seasons McCauley has coached at Weymouth High School, Babson College (where he recruited the ECAC East Rookie of the Year, ECAC East Goalie of the Year, (2) All-New England Selections, (4) All-Conference Selections and an AHCA All American), and the Bay State Breakers (developing 125+ players that moved on to play NCAA DI/DIII college hockey). 

McCauley graduated from Salem State College in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and earned his MBA from Anna Maria College in 2021.
