FRAMINGHAM, MA - On Saturday, February 1st the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team traveled to Framingham, MA to take on the Rams of Framingham State University. The AMCATS won the game 2-0.
It was a slow start for the AMCATS as the first two periods of play went scoreless. Despite the score, the AMCATS dominated possession over the Rams putting up 27 shots throughout the first two periods.
Things started to pick up in the third period after Justin Taylor set up Samson Mouland for the AMCATS first goal of the evening just five minutes into the final period action. The AMCATS peppered the Rams goaltender for the remainder of the third period however it was an empty net goal from Matthew Gilbert that solidified the win for the AMCATS. Matthew Hennessey stopped 27 shots to give the AMCATS a shutout.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Matthew Hennessey recorded his third shutout of the season as well as his 1000th career save in just two seasons with the AMCATS.
- Hennessey currently ranks second in the MASCAC for Goals Against Average with 2.33.
- The AMCATS currently lead the conference with the least Goals Against this season with 22 in 12 games played.

Men's Ice Hockey will be back in action on Thursday, February 6th where they will host the Worcester State University Lancers for a MASCAC conference matchup. Opening puck drop is set for 5:40pm at the Horgan Arena in Auburn, MA.
