MEN'S HOCKEY SILENCE OWLS 4 TO 1

WESTFIELD, MA. – On Saturday January 25, 2025, the Anna Maria College Men's hockey team traveled to take on the Westfield State Owls at the Amelia Park Ice Arena in Westfield, MA. The AMCATS won the game 4-1.

The AMCATS would look to come out strong against the Owls as would set the tone early with controlling the play and out shooting the Owls 16-9. The first period would continue you to go back and forth with chances on both side but would ultimately end  0-0 after one period. 

 

The AMCATS would come out in the second period with all the momentum on their side, getting multiple shots and opportunities against the Owls. The AMCATS would find the back of the net just :21 seconds into the period as Liam Wells finds the back of the net from a shot of the boards. The AMCATS would continue to pour on the shots throughout the period and get chances throughout the period. Just over halfway through the period Cooper Board would tie the game up for the Owls, by firing the puck over the shoulder of the AMCAT goalie. Just :18 second after the Owls goal Guillaume Coulombe tips the puck past the goalie from an initial shot from Samson Mouland. This goalie would come while working with a delayed penalty giving the advantage of the AMCATS. The second period would end in a 2-1 lead for the AMCATS.

 

The AMCATS would come into the third period with a strong outing continue their dominate play as just :43 second into the third period Pearce Baker walks into the slot off a clean faceoff win and put one over the shoulder of the Owls goaltender. This would be 21st powerplay goal for the AMCATS this season. The AMCATS would continue to put the pressure on the owls throughout the final period. The final goal for the AMCATS would come with :41 seconds left in the game as Liam Wells would get the puck out passed out to him while exiting the box from Braeden McKinnon for an empty net goal. The AMCATS would defeat the Owls 4 to 1.

 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Thursday January 30th , 2025  where they will host the Raiders of Rivier University for a MASCAC conference game. The puck drop is set to start at 5:40pm.
