
Byrne Scores Three in Win Over Mustangs
AUBURN, MA - On Saturday, November 9th the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team hosted the Mustangs of Morrisville State for a non-conference matchup. The AMCATS won the game 5-0.
Matthew Byrne kicked things off for the AMCATS with a goal almost eleven minutes into the first period. Byrnes would tuck the puck just over the goalies shoulder off a pass from Brandon Della Paler. Soon after, Max Wennerberq would score the AMCATS second goal of the night off a face-off win from Matthew Gilbert to make it a 2-0 game. Owen Barrow would close out the first period with the AMCATS third goal, scoring a power play goal off a pass from Braeden McKinnon
The AMCATS would maintain their 3-0 lead over the Mustangs for the entirety of the second period as both teams were held scoreless. It wasn't until nearly halfway through the third Period that Byrnes would score his second goal of the night to improve the AMCATS lead to 4-0. Byrne would go on to score the AMCATS fifth goal of the evening nearly six minutes later to earn his second career hat trick. Matthew Hennessy would stop 24 shots to secure the shutout victory for the AMCATS.
