Men's Hockey Falls Short Against Corsairs
AUBURN, MA - On Saturday, January 11th the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team hosted the Corsairs of Umass.-Dartmouth for a MASCAC Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 3-2.
The Corsairs were the first on the board after sneaking through a goal with just two seconds left on the clock in the first period. Their momentum would continue through to the second period where they found the back of the net a second time just under six minutes into the period. The AMCATS would fend off the Corsairs for the remainder of the second period, putting pressure on but to no avail as they entered the third period trailing by two.
Wasting no time in the third period, the AMCATS struck early with a goal from Matthew Gilbert off a pass from Liam Wells just 23 seconds into play. The Corsairs responded quickly with a power play goal almost five minutes later to regain a two goal lead over the AMCATS. It wouldn't be until late in the third period that the AMCATS would find their second goal of the game off the stick of Guillaume Coulombe with just two and a half minutes left to play. The AMCATS finished the game on the power play however the Corsairs managed to fend them off resulting a 3-2 loss at home.
