WORCESTER, MA - On Friday, November 1st the Anna Maria College men's ice hockey team took on the Assumption University Greyhounds for game one of the Worcester Cup. The AMCATS won the game 4-2.

The AMCATS got off to a quick start after Pearce Baker found Matthew Gilbert on the back door for the AMCATS first goal just two minutes into the first period. The Greyhounds wouldn't find an answer for nearly twelve minutes when an AMCATS penalty set up the Greyhounds to tie the game up. The first period would close out with the AMCATS tied up at one with the Greyhounds.

As the second period started, the Greyhounds would capitalize quick on an AMCATS penalty, scoring just 19 seconds into the period. Almost 17 minutes would go by before an AMCATS power play goal from Guillaume Coulombe would tie the game back up.

Tied up at two a piece, the AMCATS would finally break away from the Greyhounds after freshman Owen Barrow buried a back door goal off a pass from Derek Raposo to take a 3-2 lead. With the game on the wire, the Greyhounds took a pair of late penalties in the third period resulting in Brandon Della Paolera adding some insurance for the AMCATS scoring the fourth and final goal of the evening. The AMCATS would secure the 4-2 victory to move them into the Championship game of the Worcester Cup on Sunday, November 3rd.
