North Adams, Mass. - The MCLA Women's Tennis team breezed past visiting Anna Maria today earning an 8-1 match victory in the season opener for both teams. The Trailblazers swept the doubles matches and cruised to five more points in singles play.

Mariza Sfakianaki, Anna Despart, Briana Higgins, and Sam Gawron all earned two points on the afternoon for MCLA.

Anna Maria's lone point came on the hands of senior Jessica Guatieri (North Attleboro, Mass.), who was dominant at No. 1 singles, taking a 6-4, 6-1 win.

MCLA wasn't challenged in the doubles matches to pull ahead early. In singles play, AMC got on the board in the number one slot winning 6-4, 6-1 before dropping the remaining five points, all in straight sets.

Sfakianaki had to close out her match at No. 2 singles against Anna Maria's Johanna Dean (Carrollton, Texas) via tiebreaker, however the remaining matches went in MCLA's favor.
