Corsairs Top Women's Tennis, 6-3

PAXTON, Mass.—Sophomores Jessica Gautieri (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Callie Mulcahy(Charlton, Mass.) won at both singles and doubles for the Anna Maria College women's tennis team, but her efforts were not enough as the AMCATS fell 6-3 to UMass-Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Paxton Sports Center.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to 0-4 on the season, while the win boosts the Corsairs to 2-1.

Gautieri and Mulcahy teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles. The AMCATS trailed 2-1 after doubles play as UMD's Jillian Reichert (Marion, Mass.) and Rosalie Kimba (Milford, Mass.) recorded an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles and Kheyla Orival (Woburn, Mass.) and Molina Oung (Bourne, Mass.) won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Gautieri downed Maggie LeBrun (Mattapoisett, Mass.) 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Mulcahy was victorious at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-2, against Orival for the team's second and third points.

UMD had strong success at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, as Kristen Rose (North Dartmouth, Mass.) and Reichert both won in straight sets.

Anna Maria will be back in action on Friday, September 26th when it travels to Curry College for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference match. UMass Dartmouth will host Rhode Island College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
