Goudreau, Zamira Earn Postseason Honors, Williamson Named GNAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year

COMPLETE GNAC RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass.—A pair of Anna Maria College women's tennis players earned postseason recognition and head coach Adam Williamson was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Co-Coach of the Year, as announced by the league on Wednesday morning.

Senior Nicole Goudreau (Harrisville, R.I.) was named to the GNAC All-Conference Singles Second Team, while freshman Nicola Zamira (Mashpee, Mass.) was named to the GNAC All-Tournament team as well as the All-Sportsmanship team.

Goudreau was one of just two AMCATS to finish the season with a winning record in singles play. Seeing a majority of the action at No. 2 singles, Goudreau posted a 7-4 record in that slot and finished the season 7-6 overall. She graduates as the winningest player in AMCAT history with 23 career wins in singles.

In her first season with the team, Zamira made immediate contributions in both singles and doubles play. She posted a 6-5 record at No. 4 singles and finished the season with a 6-6 overall record. In doubles play, Zamira teamed up with three different teammates over the course of the season. She earned All-Tournament honors after moving up a slot to No. 2 singles in the GNAC Semifinal against Simmons.

In his third season at the helm of the program, Williamson has aided the AMCATS to back-to-back GNAC semifinal appearances and has quickly become the winningest tennis coach in Anna Maria history. He shares the 2014 Coach of the Year award with Simmons coach Bob Rauseo. It marks the second time Williamson has earned this honor, as he was named the GNAC men's tennis coach of the year in 2013.

The AMCATS concluded the 2014 season with a 5-9 overall record and a 2-4 record in GNAC play.
