Tennis Outrun by Mustangs, 6-3
NEWTON, Mass.—Junior Callie Mulcahy (Charlton, Mass.) posted wins in both singles and doubles in a standout performance in Anna Maria College's 6-3 loss to Mount Ida College in Saturday's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match.
The loss drops the AMCATS to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in GNAC play.
DOUBLES
Mulcahy paired up with Marrissa Leonard (Billerica, Mass.) for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. All three doubles matches were back-and-forth, as Nicola Zamira (Mashpee, Mass.) and Ashley Fernandes (West Bridgewater, Mass.) tallied points in an 8-3 loss at No. 1 doubles, as did Jess Palmer (Sutton, Mass.) and Freya Sprous (Ware, Mass.) in an 8-2 loss in the No. 3 slot.
SINGLES
Mulcahy took a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles for her second win of the day. Fernandes added a 6-1, 6-1, win in the No. 3 slot, but the AMCATS took losses in all of the other singles matches in the 6-3 loss. Laura
