Clark Tops Tennis, 8-1

PAXTON, Mass.—Sophomore Nicola Zamira (Mashpee, Mass.) posted her team's lone win as the Anna Maria College women's tennis team was downed 8-1 by nearby Clark University on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

With the loss, the AMCATS fall to 1-3, while the win boosts Clark to 2-3.

SINGLES

Zamira downed Clark's Rebecca Kravetz 6-2, 6-4 in No. 2 singles. She was Anna Maria's lone singles win, as Clark saw wins at all five other slots. Laura Cabral (Fall River, Mass.) was strong in the No. 6 pairing, battling Clark's Ye Jung Kim to 6-3, 6-2 scores.

DOUBLES

Zamira and Morgan Rodriguez (Ludlow, Mass.) fell at No. 1 doubles to Isabelle Long and Adrien Horowitz by a score of 8-1. In the No. 2 doubles pairing, Rebecca Kravetz and Kera Snyder battled Callie Mulcahy (Charlton, Mass.) and Ashley Fernandes (West Bridgewater, Mass.) to an 8-3 win.

Anna Maria returns to action on Saturday, as they open Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play in a home tilt against Simmons at 3:00 p.m.
