WOMEN’S SOCCER: Becker defeats AMCATS, 11-0

The Basics:

-Score: Becker College 11, Anna Maria College 0

-Records: Anna Maria College (0-6, GNAC 0-3), Becker (6-2, NECC 2-0)

-Location: Paxton, Mass. (AMCAT Field)

- The Lead: Junior Lindsey Keith (Sutton, Mass.) scored four goals for the second straight outing Monday evening and also added two assists as Becker College defeated Anna Maria College, 11-0 in non-conference women's soccer action at AMCAT Field. Keith also recorded her 100th career point in the victory.

 

How It Happened:

-Freshman Korra Joubert (Oxford, Mass.) needed just over a minute into the first half to put the Hawks on the scoreboard with her first goal of the season.

-Junior Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) scored the next two goals for Becker, both assisted by Keith, in the sixth and 13th minutes. McKissick is second on the team in scoring with six goals and six assists.

-Keith pushed the lead to 4-0 in the 23rd minute with the first of her four goals on the evening, which also pushed her over the 100 career point mark. She tacked on two more before the half ended for a natural hat trick, giving the visitors a 6-0 lead at the break.

-Freshman Marissa Felter (Cheshire, Mass.) opened the second half scoring in the first minute of play with her first goal of the season. Keith finished off her night with her fourth goal 10 minutes later to make it 8-0.

-Junior Helena Ortiz (Memphis, Tenn.) got into the scoring act just moments later with her first goal of the season, and sophomore Julia Campellone (Bellingham, Mass.) scored for the first time this season as well in the 61st minute. Freshman Britnie Cournoyer (Spencer, Mass.) rounded out the scoring with her first goal with less than three minutes remaining.

 

Inside the Numbers:

-Becker finished with a 35-4 advantage in shots. Sophomore Shannon Leblanc (Lancaster, Mass.) had two of the four shots for the AMCATS.

-Sophomore Gabriella Eldredge (West Boylston, Mass.) had a busy night in the AMCAT goal, and finished with 14 saves. Arielle McCabe (Medford, Mass.) played the final six minutes between the pipes and made one save.

-Junior Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) made three saves for Becker to post her sixth shutout and improve her record to 6-3.

-Keith now has a team-high 17 goals and three assists for 37 points on the season. She upped her career totals to 45 goals, 17 assists and 107 points.

The AMCATS return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 27, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match-up at AMCAT Field against Simmons College (7:00 p.m.) Becker returns home to host Eastern Nazarene on Thursday, Sept. 28, in a non-conference match-up (4:00 p.m.)
