AMCATS COME UP SHORT TO THE LANCERS

WORCESTER, MA. – On Friday, February 16, 2024 the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team traveled to Worcester Ice Center in Worcester, MA to take on the Worcester State University Lancers for an ECHA Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 2-0.

The Lancers took control of the game in the first period outshooting the AMCATS 18-3. Sam Dahill stopped all 18 shots that came her way, keeping the score at 0-0 going into the second period.

The Lancers would come out strong again to start the second period, as they would three minutes into the period capitalize on a powerplay goal coming off the stick of Amy MacGlashing assisted by Sydney Vautour. The AMCATS did push and create opportunities and shots towards the net, there was just no bounces going their way. The AMCATS did have a chance on the powerplay, where they took multiple shots, one shot though that took an unlucky bounce that created the Lancers to have a 2 on 0 on the penalty kill where Sam Dahill would made the initial save but Ellen Cook for the Lancers would get the rebound and pass it over to Amy MacGlashing to put it in for the Lancers. That would increase the Lancers lead now to 2-0 and it would remain that to the end of the second period.

After a surge from the Lancers in the second period, the AMCATS would continue to push, take shots, and create opportunities but struggled to get passed the Lancers goaltender. In the end ultimately falling short to the Lancers, losing the game 2-0.
