HENNIKER, NH: The Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team lost 3-2 at New England College on Tuesday evening in Henniker, New Hampshire.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Tuesday, November 16, 2021
  • Score: NEC 3, Anna Maria 2
  • Records: Pilgrims of NEC 1-4-0 | AMCATS of Anna Maria 1-4-1

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Anna Maria junior defender Abigail Vigliotte (Medford, MA) put the AMCATS in front early, scoring her third goal of the season 5:03 into the first, assisted by junior forward Grace Dodge (St. Paul, MN) and freshman forward Jordyn Bleaney (Nanoose Bay, BC) as Anna Maria took a 1-0 lead.
  • From there, however, it was all NEC. Sophomore forward Isabella Borski (Eagle, CO) tied it up nine minutes later, assisted by sophomore forward AK Fuentes (Aspen, CO) and sophomore forward Emily Lenzen (Littleton, CO).
  • With 1:48 left in the first, the Pilgrims took their first lead of the game off a goal from freshman forward Meaghan McCamish (Warwick, RI).
  • Then in the third period, Lenzen gave NEC a 3-1 lead, this coming on a power play.
  • Refusing to go quietly, Anna Maria attempted to rally with 4:26 to go, as Bleaney scored her first goal of the year, assisted by junior forward Sara Sammons (Western Australia, AUS).
  • The AMCATS managed eight shots in the last minute and a half, but couldn't close the gap.
  • Anna Maria junior goaltender Sam Dahill (Littleton, MA) tallied 29 saves on the night.
