Women’s Ice Hockey Play Raiders to a Stalemate

NASHUA, NH: The Anna Maria College women's traveled to Rivier University on Saturday evening for an Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) conference matchup at the Conway Arena.

THE BASICS:

  • Date: Saturday, November 5, 2022
  • Score: Anna Maria 1, Rivier 1
  • Records: Anna Maria AMCATS 0-3-1 (0-1-1 ECHA) | Rivier University 1-2-1 (1-0-1 ECHA)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Meeting for the second time in as many nights, the AMCATS and the Raiders proved to be each other's equals, playing to a one-goal tie.
  • The AMCATS were the first ones to score, making the Raiders pay for a cross-checking penalty on Brianna Rumptz. The AMCATS needed all of 22 seconds of power play time before senior forward Grace Dodge (St. Paul, MN) lit the lamp. Senior defenseman Alyssa MacDonald (Victoria, BC) dug the puck out of the corner and sent it along the boards to junior winger Angelina Rodriguez (Corona, CA) who kept the puck in the offensive end with a pass back to Dodge who sniped a shot from beyond the left faceoff circle to the short side of the net between the goalie and the post. The goal was the first of the year for Dodge and the first power-play goal for the AMCATS of the season.
  • With the clock winding down in the first quarter, the Raiders tied the score when Molly Dukesherer skated through mid-ice and fired the puck off the post where it appeared to deflect off the back of AMCATS netminder Sam Dahill (Littleton, MA) and into the net.
  • Dahill finished the game with 32 saves on 31 shots.
