Women’s Hockey Drops Two On The Road Against SUNY Canton

CANTON, NY. – On Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team traveled to Canton, NY to take on the SUNY Canton Roos. The AMCATS lost both games 6-0.

Game One: The Roos wasted no time jumping on the AMCATS, outshooting Anna Maria 20-4 throughout the first period. Sam Dahill kept the game scoreless stopping all twenty shots in the first period. The first goal of the game wouldn't come until there was just over four minutes left in the second period after the Roos capitalized on an AMCATS penalty. The momentum would continue for the Roos as they would get back up on the board just under a minute later as Jayme Mcilveen made it a 2-0 game.

The Roos would cary their second period momentum into the third period scoring just five minutes into the third. The Roos would total four goals in the span of three minutes during the third period making it a 6-0 game with more than half of the period left to play. Unable to find any opportunities, the AMCATS closed out the game trailing behind the Roos 6-0.

Game Two: Things would not bode well for the AMCATS in game two of their north country road trip as they went down early as the Roos scored three goals in the first period setting the tone for a tough game two. The first period came to a close with the Roos scoring their third goal with 18 seconds left on the clock.

The second period wouldn't be much different for the AMCATS as the Roos drove home their fourth goal of the game just over a minute into the second period. Anna Maria managed to hold off the Roos for the majority of the second period however, with Gabi Gibson stopping 14 shots to keep the game at 4-0. Despite the effort in net from the AMCATS, the Roos would manage their fifth goal of the day with under a minute left to play in the second period.

An early sixth goal from the Roos made it a 6-0 game with sixteen minutes left to play in the third period. Still unable to find the back of the net, the AMCATS would play out the remainder of the period resulting in a final score of 6-0 in favor of the Roos.
