Golden Bears Blank Women’s Hockey 7-0

WORCESTER, MA. – On Friday, January 5th the Anna Maria College women's hockey team hosted the Western New England University Golden Bears at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, MA. The AMCATS lost the game 7-0.

The Golden Bears wasted no time to start the game as Leah Dube and Emma Birmingham set up Katie Cronin on the back door for the first goal of the evening just over three minutes into the first period. Less than three minutes later, the Bears struck again after Emma McGuane set up Zoe Galanoudis, making it a 2-0 game. The Bears would manage yet another goal just six minutes later, off the stick of Allison Walker. Less than a minute later, the Bears would tack on their fourth goal of the evening after Galanoudis put away her second goal of the evening off the pass from Ziya Damas and Jenna Lynch. The Period would come to a close with the AMCATS trailing 4-0.

The AMCATS managed to hold off the Bears in the second period with a little help from goaltender Sam Dahill who stopped all 19 shots to give her team a chance to come back. However despite the strong performance on the back end, the AMCATS were unable to find the back of the net. Still trailing 4-0 at the start of the third period, the AMCATS desperately scratch for their first goal of the night, however the Bears had different plans. Just four minutes into the final period, McGuane and Alyssa Murphy set up Maddie Pope for WNE's fifth goal of the evening. The next goal of the game wouldn't come for almost fourteen minutes when Galanoudis buried her third goal of the night making it a 6-0 game. The last goal of the night would come just forty seconds later where McGuane and Maddy Tucker set up Abby Hay to give the Bears their seventh goal of the night. Unable to find the back of the net, the AMCATS closed out the game trailing behind the Bears 7-0.
