WORCESTER, MA. – On Sunday, December 10th the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team hosted the Salve Regina University Seahawks at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, MA. The AMCATS tied the game 1-1.
After two scoreless periods, the Seahawks were the first to strike with a goal from Samantha McKenzie just seven minutes into the third period. Having struggle all game generating offense, the AMCATS played their best period, putting pressure on the Seahawks defense. Fighting hard to tie the game up, the AMCATS finally broke the ice with two minutes left to play as Samantha Rodriguez buried the game tying goal off a rebound from Ceili Nolan. With a little over two minutes to play, the AMCATS took a late penalty giving the Seahawks an opportunity to regain their lead, however goaltender Sam Dahill stopped everything that came her way as the Salve offense desperately fought for the win.
As time ran out in regulation, the game would move into a three on three, five minute overtime. With neither team able to score in the overtime period, the game would close out with the AMCATS dead even with the Seahawks 1-1.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
