Lancers Strike Down Women's Hockey 3-0

WORCESTER, MA. – On Saturday, December 2nd the Anna Maria College women's ice hockey team hosted the Worcester State University Lancers  at the Buffone Arena in Worcester, MA for an ECHA Conference matchup. The AMCATS lost the game 3-0.

The Lancers took control of the game in the first period outshooting the AMCATS 19-2. Sam Dahill stopped all 19 shots that came her way, keeping the score at 0-0 going into the second period. 

With a stronger offensive performance in the second period, the AMCATS managed to get off 11 shots against the Lancers. Despite the AMCATS improvement, the Lancers broke the ice halfway through the second period with a goal from Kiertsen Erickson making it a 1-0 game. Just seconds later Sydney Vautour increased the Lancers lead to two, scoring off the face-off win from Amy MacGlashing. Trailing by two, the AMCATS struggled to get passed the Lancers goaltender. Cailey Ryan buried the Lancers third goal of the game with just fifteen second left to play in the second period. 

After a surge from the Lancers in the second period, the game would return to a stalemate. Unable to tie the game up, the AMCATS would close the game out behind the Lancer 3-0. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Sam Dahill stopped 46 out of 49 shots.
  • The AMCATS are 1-1 against the Lancers so far this season.
  • The AMCATS have been held scoreless their last three games played.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Friday, December 8th where they will head to Harrisville, RI to take on the Nichols College Bison. Opening puck drop is set for 3:40pm.
