Women's Hockey Drops Home Opener To Wolves 2-0

WORCESTER, MA. – On Friday, October 27th the Anna Maria College women's hockey team hosted the Alvernia Golden Wolves for their home opener and first game of the season. The AMCATS would lose the contest 2-0.

The AMCATS and the Golden Wolves would play a tightly contested beginning of the first period where each team would trade opportunities on net before the Golden Wolves would take the first penalty of the game. The AMCATS however would not capitalize and just after the penalty, the Golden Wolves would strike for the first goal of the game. The AMCATS would continue to trade chances with the Golden Wolves but would not be able to find the score board before the end of the period. The second period was a similar story with each team trading chances however both goalies would slam the door shut keeping the score 1-0 at the end of two periods. Similar to the first period, the Golden Wolves would find the board close to halfway through the period to extend their lead to 2-0 which is where the game would end.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Sam Dahill would do everything she could in net for the AMCATS making 53 saves on 55 shots.
  • Olympia Myers led the AMCATS with four shots on goal.
