Men's Soccer Close Out Season with Senior Day Loss

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Men's Soccer team hosted non-conference opponent Eastern Connecticut State University on senior day this evening and fell 2-0 on AMCAT Field. 

 

Eastern Connecticut (14-3, 6-1 LEC), Anna Maria College (2-15-1, 0-10-1 GNAC)

 

First Half: 

 

The warriors would lead the first half in shot attempts out shooting the AMCATS 9-3.  Despite taking 6 more shots, Anna Maria would hold off Eastern Connecticut State to keep the score at zero going into halftime.   

 

Second Half:

 

The warriors would come out the start of the second half taking multiple shots on net, but AMCATS goalie John Concalves (Edgartown, Mass) would make two beautiful saves, one diving to his left and one jumping straight up to keep the score at zero.

 

Eastern Connecticut State would end the scoreless drought by both teams in the 55th minute when Nick Starkowski would kick a penalty shot past Goncalves. The Warriors would go onto expand their lead to two in the 64th minute.  This is where Jake Pendl would score unassisted off of a corner to the bottom left corner. 

Four minutes later in the 68th minute, the AMCATS would get a Red Card handed out to Senior Dan McElhinney (Natick, Mass) that would set them down a player for the remainder of the game.

Kyle Boutot: 0 Goals Allowed, 2 Saves, (3-0)

 

Ryan Murphy: 0 Goals Allowed, 0 Saves

 

Anna Maria: John Concalves (Edgartown, Mass): 2 Goals Allowed, 6 Saves, (0-3)

 

With the loss the AMCATS have concluded their 2018 schedule and will start preparing for the next

season in the fall of 2019.
