Gators Best AMCATS in Non-Conference Play

PAXTON, Mass -- The Anna Maria Men's soccer team fell to the Pine Manor Gators Wednesday afternoon 5-0, on the road in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

FIRST HALF

Pine Manor did most of their damage in the first half, scoring three goals. The first was an unassisted goal in the 11th minute by freshmen forward Elmer Pineda (Santa Rosa, CA). The Gators followed up with a second goal in the 31st minute from freshmen forward Noe Vasquez (El Paso, TX); freshmen forward George Fernandez (Houston, TX) recorded the assist. The hosts closed out the half with a third in the 43rd minute, when Fernandez scored himself, unassisted.

The Amcats ended the first half with three shots, and one on target by sophomore midfielder Connor Francis (Colchester, Conn).

SECOND HALF

Following up his first half goal, Pineda netted two more strikes in the 46th and 58th minutes of the game for his first hat trick of the season/

AMCAT freshmen goalie John Goncalves (Edgartown, Mass) made his Anna Maria debut in the game and made four saves on six shots that he faced.

With the loss, the AMCATS drop to 1-2 on the young season. Anna Maria travels to New London, N.H. on Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm to square off against the newest Great Northeast Athletic Conference member Colby-Sawyer Chargers to begin conference play.
